Bio

Enyue (Annie) Lu, Ph.D., is a Professor of Computer Science at the Henson School of Science & Technology at Salisbury. She has built a distinguished record of achievement in teaching, externally funded research, and student mentorship, with particular impact in advancing undergraduate research and workforce development in computing.

Dr. Lu has secured over $2 million in external funding, including competitive grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). She has served as sole Principal Investigator and Director of the NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program since 2012, mentoring over 100 students and building a high-impact undergraduate research program. Her students have received prestigious awards such as the Gates Cambridge Scholarship and NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), and gained admission to top graduate programs including Carnegie Mellon University and the University of California, Los Angeles.

Her scholarly work includes over 50 peer-reviewed publications, including first-author articles in leading venues such as IEEE Transactions and major international IEEE and ACM conferences, along with a sustained record of student co-authored research, frequently with students as first authors, that integrates scholarship with undergraduate training. She has served as an NSF panelist and as a program committee member, reflecting her national recognition and leadership in the field.

Dr. Lu has taught a wide range of courses, developed new curriculum, and played a leadership role in high-performance computing and networking (HPCN). She is committed to mentoring students and junior faculty, fostering research capacity, and expanding external funding opportunities.

Her current research interests include AI and machine learning, data analytics and pattern detection, and algorithm design and analysis, with applications in high-performance computing, parallel and distributed systems, networking and cybersecurity, sustainable agriculture, environmental monitoring and disaster response, smart health, and image processing.

In her free time, she enjoys exploring different cultures, listening to world music, and practicing folk dance.
